A federal government MP sympathises with an Australian woman who flew to Lebanon with a film crew in an attempt to take her children from her ex-husband.
Andrew Nikolic, who was a UN peacekeeper 25 years ago, said they had once helped a European woman who was facing the same "diabolically difficult situation" in the south of the country.
But he warned on ABC radio on Monday that whether you are a parent or a group assisting a parent, you need to abide by the laws of a foreign country.
