Liberal MPs are gathering for their regular parliamentary sitting week meeting, 12 hours after they dumped Tony Abbott as leader.

New leader Malcolm Turnbull arrived at the meeting with deputy Julie Bishop and cabinet minister Christopher Pyne.

Mr Abbott, who has yet to make a public statement about his defeat, has yet to arrive at Parliament House.

Treasurer Joe Hockey cut a lonely figure as he made his way into the meeting.

Scott Morrison, the man tipped to replace Mr Hockey, also arrived alone.
