Liberals want research centres moved to SA

The South Australian opposition has urged the federal government to move two primary industry research centres to the state.

South Australia's opposition wants the federal government to move two agricultural research centres to the state.

The federal government has recently announced plans to shift a number of primary industry research centres to regional communities.

SA's opposition agriculture spokesman David Ridgway says the Grains Research and Development Corporation should be relocated to Adelaide University and the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation should be moved to Port Lincoln.

Mr Ridgway said this would further cement SA as a centre of excellence for primary industry research.
