Life ban for cricketer after wild brawl

A Bermuda international cricketer has been banned for life after instigating a wild brawl in a domestic cricket match.

Former international Jason Anderson has been banned for life by his club Cleveland after the Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) found he instigated one of the worst fights ever on a cricket field.

Anderson, who played 14 times for Bermuda, confronted Willow Cuts batsman George O'Brien and attempted to punch him in the face during the Champion of Champions grade cricket match.

O'Brien then swung his bat at Anderson sparking a scuffle which spread from one side of the pitch to the other.

While O'Brien was on the ground Anderson attempted to kick him in the head, but video footage shows him appearing to make contact with his own teammate Aaron Adams, who was attempting to break up the fight.

"I think a little bit of frustration built up by Jason, dropping a catch and missing a stumping, but I don't know what was said between George and Jason because I was at the other end of the wicket (bowling)," Cleveland captain Allan Douglas told Bermuda's Royal Gazette.

O'Brien has been banned for six 50-over matches for his part in the incident.
