Brisbane midfielder Dayne Zorko says his side can still avoid the AFL wooden spoon despite arguably the toughest run home of any club.
The Lions are now off the bottom of the ladder, leapfrogging Carlton into 17th position after Saturday's drought-breaking 64-point win over the Blues at the Gabba.
But they take on Adelaide, Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs in the final three rounds and can still slip back down if they are beaten heavily in all three, with a minor difference in percentage all that separates them and Carlton who have a comparatively easier fixture.
Zorko said the Lions could very well surprise one of them, having grown in confidence as a group following their big win at the weekend, which snapped an 11-game losing streak.
"Never say never - hopefully we are able to pinch a win along the way, which would be good for the morale of the boys," he said.
"I think Jed Adcock's last goal (on Saturday night) might have just put us off the bottom, so we're pretty happy with Jed at the moment.
"We certainly knew we were off the bottom and it's important we stay off the bottom now."
Brisbane's late-season gauntlet begins on the road this Saturday, against the Crows at Adelaide Oval, before facing the Hawks in Tasmania and the Bulldogs at home in the last round.
Adelaide thrashed Essendon by 112 points at the weekend to consolidate their position in the AFL's top eight and loom as a nightmare proposition for the Lions.
"It doesn't help us much," Zorko said of the Lions' final three weeks.
"Adelaide had a big win on the weekend, the same as Hawthorn, and the Dogs are just playing some outstanding footy which is something we can look up to as well.
"They're a really young list like ourselves with a few experienced players - very similar to us.
"Hopefully we can learn a little bit from them and next year we can do what the Dogs did this year."
