Lions flanker cited for alleged charge

Lions flanker Warwick Tecklenburg faces a date with the Sanzaar judiciary following an alleged charge on Highlanders opposite Dan Pryor.

Lions flanker Warwick Tecklenburg has been cited for an alleged illegal charge late in his team's 34-15 loss to the Highlanders in Dunedin.

A Sanzaar statement said Tecklenburg's foul play late in the game had met the red card threshold for foul play and would be reviewed at a judicial hearing.

Tecklenburg charged into a ruck in the 75th minute of the game and appeared to lead with his shoulder, which made contact with the head of Highlanders flanker Dan Pryor.

The collision forced an injured Pryor to leave the game.
