Live TV combines in Freeview app

A new mobile application will bring free to air streamers together in one app as SBS rejoins the Freeview stable.

Good news for the square eyed among us, with Australia's major free-to-air networks launching a new streaming app that will take live TV mobile.

The networks are developing a new Freeview streaming app which will offer all the major free-to-air channels live to mobile devices across Australia.

"We can now deliver more sophisticated and more elegant services across devices, knowing consumers want that service," Freeview Australia chief executive Liz Ross told AAP.

Ms Ross said the service would be a world first and allowed Australians to watch TV anywhere at anytime for free.

The service would add to the catch-up apps and some live streaming already offered by the individual channels.
