Lives, homes at risk from WA bushfires

A series of watch and act warnings have been issued for bushfires burning across Western Australia.

Lives and homes may be at risk as a series of bushfires burn out-of-control in Western Australia.

Watch and act warnings are in place for parts of Morangup and Wundowie, northeast of Perth, and parts of Roelands, near Bunbury, as well for near Stirling Range National Park and Pagett Nature Reserve.

There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is approaching in the area and conditions are changing," the Emergency WA alerts said on Thursday night.

The Morangup fire watch and act covers people at Mauravillo Estate and near Golflinks Road.

Residents at Roelands, east of the South Western Highway, south of Alcock Road, west of Edwards Road and north of Coalfields Highway should leave or be ready to defend their homes.

Meanwhile, the out-of-control prescribed burn 2km south of Pagett Nature Reserve was earlier downgraded from an emergency warning.

But a watch and act remained for those bounded by Dennis Rd and Governor Broome Road, east towards Milyeannup Coast Road.

"There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is still burning on the western side of the area and the conditions are changing," the alert said.

A similar warning also covered people in the Stirling Range National Park area, west of Gnowellen Road, north of Chillinup Road and east of Arnolds Road.
