Livorno captain to miss rest of season

Livorno captain Andrea Luci will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Tests on Monday revealed Luci has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and the club says "the season can be considered over for him."

The 28-year-old midfielder had to be replaced in the 31st minute of Livorno's 2-1 win at Cagliari on Sunday.

The news is a blow to Livorno's survival hopes.

Livorno lies 17th in the Serie A, just one point above the relegation zone.
