LNP promises $500m for Qld regions

Queensland Premier Campbell Newman is set to promise funding for 47 regional projects, including upgrading airports.

Queensland's Liberal National Party will promise an extra $500 million for the regions if re-elected.

Premier Campbell Newman will reportedly announce the funding in Emerald on Thursday.

Queensland Country Life reports that the funding will go towards 47 regional projects including the upgrade of 11 airports, a road and a truck wash down facility.

"This funding from the Strong Choices Plan will ensure better roads, better community infrastructure and disaster mitigation projects will continue to be delivered in Queensland's regions," Mr Newman told the paper.

The premier said the funding would come from the LNP's $37 billion asset leasing plan, however, the government said on Wednesday that plan could bring in much more money than initially predicted.

Mr Newman is still looking likely to lose his seat, with a ReachTEL poll on Thursday showing his constituents will dump him.

It suggested Labor's Kate Jones will scoop 47.6 per cent of the primary vote and Mr Newman will receive 43.6 per cent.

The poll shows that based on 2012 preferences, Labor is leading the LNP 53-47 in Ashgrove.

The poll was taken from 847 voters on January 13.

Queenslanders are due to go to the polls January 31.
