Queensland's police minister has been referred to police for phoning a man who made criminal allegations against Labor MP Rick Williams.

Opposition police spokesman Jarrod Bleijie has referred Jo-Ann Miller to both Police Commissioner Ian Stewart and the Crime and Corruption Commission.

Ms Miller has told parliament her call to the whistleblower was a welfare check and had nothing to do with the allegations against Mr Williams.
