Local calls to remain unchanged: Turnbull

The standard 22 cent local telephone call will continue with the federal government ruling out any changes.

Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull admits he has seen a briefing paper prepared by his department on scrapping the requirement of untimed local calls.

But after giving the idea some thought, Mr Turnbull told 3AW on Monday: "It will not happen".
