Tuimoala Lolohea will concentrate on what he does best rather than try to copy the man he will replace as Warriors fullback - injured star Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.
Lolohea will take over the No.1 jersey when the Warriors face Melbourne at AAMI Park on Anzac Day.
Tuivasa-Sheck's NRL season was ended when he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee early in the 24-20 win over the Bulldogs last weekend.
While both players are noted runners of the ball, Lolohea says he and Tuivasa-Sheck have different styles.
"I'm just going to try and play my game and do what I do best," he said.
Tuivasa-Sheck's injury meant Lolohea's spell in his preferred position in the halves lasted just a quarter-hour.
Having been used at wing in the first six rounds, Lolohea was the starting five-eighth against the Bulldogs, before replacing Tuivasa-Sheck at fullback.
"I was pretty excited throughout the whole week to play half and only managed to last 15 minutes," he said
"But I'm still in the spine and I get the ball in my hands quite a bit so I'm happy."
Fullback is a position he is familiar with. He started there in almost half of his 23 appearances in his first full season of first-grade last year.
With Tuivasa-Sheck out, Lolohea's name has come up among possible candidates as Kiwis fullback in the Anzac Test in Newcastle on May 6.
The 21-year-old has one cap, playing at halfback in the first Test against England last year.
He is confident in his ability to do the job at the back if Kiwis coach Stephen Kearney opts for him.
"That's always the goal and it's always the dream - to play for that black jersey," Lolohea said.
"If I get the opportunity, I'll take it with both hands."
