Lomu memorabilia hits online websites

Online sales websites have had nearly 100 pieces of Jonah Lomu memorabilia listed less than 24 hours after his death.

Online merchants are cashing in on the death of All Blacks great Jonah Lomu, with nearly 100 memorabilia listings on trading sites such as eBay and Trade Me since his death.

Signed video games, trading cards, posters, books and even All Blacks jerseys were all for sale on online shopping websites in the 24 hours following Lomu's death in Auckland on Wednesday.

New Zealand's online marketplace, Trade Me, said they don't get involved when people list memorabilia after a famous death.

"We let these run and let the community make the call," a Trade Me spokesperson told AAP on Thursday.

On eBay, some items are running into the thousands of dollars with two All Blacks jerseys, one framed, signed by Lomu have been advertised for more than $2,300 each.

Some other items, such as signed posters, had an asking price of more than $150.
