Lone gunman arrested by Qld police

A man who eluded Queensland police for more than 24 hours after allegedly opening fire on them has been arrested.

A gunman who allegedly fired shots at police hunting him and lit a bushfire has been arrested in Queensland.

Adin Joel Cussen, 29, sparked the chase after he allegedly fired shots at officers during a car chase on the Burnett Highway outside Rockhampton, in central Queensland.

Detectives had been closing in on Cussen after he allegedly threatened a woman with a gun on Wednesday.

But Cussen allegedly fired shots at police again when they approached him.

He's also believed to have sparked a bushfire in the Bouldercombe area on Thursday.

A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed a man had been arrested and said he expected charges to the laid later on Thursday.
