Long Tan might be off limits for Anzac Day

The federal government is still waiting to hear whether Vietnam will allow Anzac commemorations to go ahead at the Long Tan site.

It's unclear whether Vietnamese officials will allow Anzac day commemorations to take place at Long Tan.

Last year the Vietnamese government cancelled at the last minute the 50th anniversary commemorations for the battle of Long Tan, in a move described as a "kick in the guts" by Veterans Minister Dan Tehan.

Mr Tehan warned veterans should brace for the possibility that official commemorations might be barred at the site on Anzac Day, although discussions with the Vietnamese government were continuing.
