Longmire unsure about clutch score reviews

The AFL's contentious score-review system is back in the headlines after a couple of clutch calls made late on both Thursday and Friday night.

Sydney were on the wrong end of a handful of reviews in the final quarter of their SCG thriller against Essendon, including a tight call that denied Lance Franklin what would have been an epic goal from beyond the 50m arc.

It came 24 hours after Hawthorn's Will Langford was controversially denied a goal by the system in his side's upset win over Adelaide.

Swans coach John Longmire was keen to watch a tape of the SCG incidents before forming a strong opinion about what unfolded.

"As the coach, where I was sitting, it seemed to go against us," Longmire said.

"And if you were in the situation of Woosha (Bombers coach John Worsfold), you'd probably be thinking he opposite.

"Clearly you look at it a bit blindly when you're involved with the emotion during the game.

"I have to go back and have a look at them. I don't even know what the calls were originally."

Longmire added he had no issues with the system that was introduced in response to a small number of goal-umpire errors.

"The whole idea is to get it right. I just don't know if they got it right or not," he said.

Worsfold struck a more diplomatic note.

"In tight games like that you really want the right call made ... I would assume we did," he said.

"The umpire goes with what he feels, they're the experts.

"We all sit there and make calls but those guys are professionals at that.

"So I'm happy to back in their initial instinct. If there's any doubt, back the goal umpire."
