Lonie bags Rising Star nomination

Teenage talent Jack Lonie has won the Rising Star nomination for round 14 in just his 12th game of AFL football.

St Kilda's teenage tyro Jack Lonie has been named the round's best young player, picking up a Rising Star nomination.

The 18-year-old impressed in St Kilda's 110-point demolition job of Essendon, picking up 18 disposals and five inside 50s.

Lonie was floored by Mark Baguley in the second quarter, but earned a goal of the year nomination shortly after with a fine dribbling effort from the boundary line.

Baguley was given a one-week ban for striking from the same incident.
