Losses to shape Lynch's AFL future: Brown

Former Brisbane captain Jonathan Brown says Gold Coast's lopsided losses will be weighing on the mind of in-demand skipper Tom Lynch.

AFL great Jonathan Brown fears Gold Coast's terrible on-field form will impact in-demand captain Tom Lynch's thoughts on his future.

The Suns started the season with wins over North Melbourne and Carlton but are now reeling from a five-match losing streak.

Their past two games have been particularly lopsided, with Geelong and Greater Western Sydney cruising to victory by 85 and 108 points respectively.

Lynch faces a huge decision as this year's hottest free agent, with the expectation being a handful of Melbourne clubs will offer lucrative contracts to prise him away from Queensland.

"Not one part of him is thinking (while sitting on the bus after Saturday's loss) that I can make this work at the Gold Coast Suns or I want to stay at the Gold Coast Suns," Brown said on Fox Footy.

"I know that might be a touch presumptuous.

"But common sense is he can't see any future at the Suns (that involves) playing finals ... while he's in the prime of his career."

Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew remains confident Lynch will look at more than the past two games when he makes a decision.

"We think we've shown a fair bit this year," Dew told reporters.

"The last two weeks haven't been great but as a football club I think we're creating a really good environment for players to succeed.

"We want Tom to be part of that and lead the way, as we do all our other leaders."

Lynch managed one goal against the Cats then was held goal-less by GWS co-captain Phil Davis.

Dew noted Lynch's contract situation didn't mean he was immune from receiving some frank feedback about his form.

"Not at all. Tom will be the first one to say don't leave me out of it," Dew said.

"At different times we grabbed certain sections of players and he's been involved in that.

"He's got a thirst for it."
