Love thy neighbour? Aussies say nah

A majority of Australians don't even know their neighbour's names, a new study shows.

Love thy neighbour? Well, most Australians don't.

Australians have become isolated in their local communities, with just one-in-three even knowing the name of the person next door.

Around 80 per cent say they don't have a great relationship with their neighbours, according to a study by community social media network Nabo.

Despite the seclusion, Australians do want to get to know each other but don't know how, with the weekly "bin day" accounting for about half of all initial meetings between locals.
