Lyle to make comeback at Aust Masters

Cancer-survivor Jarrod Lyle will make his return to golf at the Australian Masters in November.

Cancer survivor Jarrod Lyle is set to make a return to professional golf at the Australian Masters at Royal Melbourne in November.

Lyle's cancer battle resurfaced last year when leukaemia, which he'd beaten as a teenager, returned.

But after an 18-month fight Lyle received the good news in June that his body was clear of the disease.

And now he's agreed to make his return to tournament golf at the Australian Masters from November 14-17, where he'll share the limelight with US Masters and defending champion Adam Scott and America's world No.6 Matt Kuchar.

The 31-year-old Lyle has previously expressed hope of resuming his career on the US PGA Tour next year.

"I am particularly pleased that Victoria's own Jarrod Lyle will be making his return to tournament golf this November," Victoria's Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hugh Delahunty, said in a statement.

"I encourage fans from around Victoria and Australia to come along to the magnificent Royal Melbourne Golf Club to celebrate this outstanding achievement."

Six-time PGA Tour winner Kuchar played Royal Melbourne as a rookie on the victorious US team in the 2011 Presidents Cup and said he was excited to be returning.

"I have always enjoyed playing in Australia and especially on the Melbourne sandbelt," Kuchar said.

"The Royal Melbourne Golf Club is one of the world's great courses and was a fantastic venue for The Presidents Cup 2011."
