Lynas Corporation boss Eric Noyrez has quit the rare earths miner after just 14 months in the job.
The former head of Commander Communications, Amanda Lacaze, has taken over the top job.
Ms Lacaze has been a non-executive director of Lynas since January.
Her appointment comes just weeks after Lynas raised about $40 million in May to help address liquidity concerns.
Its shares also tumbled in March when it revealed its half year losses had widened to $59.3 million.
Chairman Nicholas Curtis did not give a reason for Mr Noyrez's departure.
He said Ms Lacaze had solid experience in marketing and pricing as well as a track record of delivering outstanding financial performance.
"This combination of production and marketing expertise will be invaluable in helping to secure positive cash flow and profitability as Lynas prepares to enter its second year of production," he said in a statement on Thursday.
Ms Lacaze has also served as executive chairman of Orion Telecommunications, AOL7's chief executive and head of marketing at Telstra.
Shares in Lynas, whose rare earth minerals are used in a range of hi-tech products, were 0.75 of a cent lower at 15.75 cents at 1011 AEST.
