Lynch sole bad boy of AFL pre-season

A melee from Sydney's narrow win over GWS Giants on Sunday has left four AFL players out of pocket.

A tame AFL pre-season has produced just a single suspension, with Gold Coast's Tom Lynch the only banned player from the 2015 NAB Challenge.

Lynch's high and late hit on GWS Giant Matt Buntine was the only suspendable offence from four weeks of pre-season football.

The final week of practice matches was an expensive one for several players, with several minor charges arising from two derbies.

Crow Rory Sloane (rough conduct) and Port Adelaide's Aaron Young (attempted trip) have been billed $1000 each for their part in the South Australian showdown.

From the Swans' narrow win over the Giants on Sunday, Lewis Jetta, Rhyce Shaw, Callan Ward and Devon Smith have all been given financial punishments for engaging in a melee.

All six players face heavier fines should they choose to challenge their offences.

Lynch joins Demon Chris Dawes, who was suspended in the final round of Melbourne's 2014 season for striking North Melbourne skipper Andrew Swallow in sitting out their round one meeting at the MCG.
