Fremantle coach Ross Lyon has refuted speculation that he might be a candidate should Collingwood want a new AFL coach.

The Magpies' four-game losing streak is disastrous for coach Nathan Buckley, who said after they went down to Essendon on Saturday that the season had reached a tipping point with the players.

As talk intensifies about who will coach Collingwood next season, Lyon's name was thrown up on Melbourne radio.

Lyon sensationally left St Kilda at the end of the 2011 season to join the Dockers and is contracted to coach them until 2020.

On Monday night, Lyon said there is no way he would break his current deal.

"People are going to draw parallels to me leaving St Kilda, but my contractual situation was vastly different ... both parties had a clause in, to vacate that contract, and I exercised mine," he told Channel Nine's Footy Classified.

"So there's no such clause in this, it's a marriage where I'm fully committed to them and they're full committed to me.

"It's starkly different."

Lyon laughed about the speculation, but was adamant he had received no approach from the Magpies.

"Geez that would be a hot seat, wouldn't it?," he said.

"I'm flattered by it, because round two, the game had left me behind.

"Now I'm a candidate for one of the biggest clubs in the country."
