M1 lanes reopen after NSW truck crash

Southbound lanes on the M1 motorway have reopened after a two-truck crash on the NSW Central Coast.

Southbound lanes on the M1 motorway north of Sydney have reopened after a collision between two trucks on the central coast.

Emergency crews freed one driver from his cab and he was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition after the crash near the Mooney Mooney Creek Bridge at Calga at about 3.50am (AEDT) on Wednesday.

Motorists driving towards Sydney on the M1 experienced lengthy delays with traffic queued back 6km after the crash forced the closure of two of three southbound lanes.

The Transport Management Centre (TMC) said at 9.30am that all southbound lanes had reopened but traffic remained heavy in the area and motorists were still advised to allow additional travel time.
