Macmahon promotes CFO to CEO

Macmahon Holdings chief financial officer Sybrandt van Dyk has been promoted to the top job at the troubled mining services contractor.

Troubled mining services company Macmahon Holdings has promoted chief financial officer Sybrandt van Dyk to chief executive.

He replaces Ross Carroll, who resigned in January after two years in the top job.

Mr van Dyk joined Macmahon in April 2014 from WesTrac Group.

His appointment comes just weeks after Macmahon announced another impairment charge of up to $125 million on top of a $130 million first half charge, sparking speculation the contractor could be broken up.
