A 6.1-magnitude earthquake has struck off Sulawesi island in central Indonesia, the US Geological Survey says.

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake has struck off Sulawesi island in central Indonesia, the US Geological Survey says.

The epicentre was 161km deep, and 68km south of the city of Gorontalo.

There was no potential for a tsunami, Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency said, and no damage was immediately reported.
