Collingwood have restructured their recruiting management, continuing the changes at the struggling AFL club in the wake of coach Nathan Buckley's reappointment.
The Magpies have retained veteran recruiting boss Derek Hine but added player manager Ned Guy in a newly-created role as list and strategy manager.
It follows last year's controversial decision to sign former Fremantle player Chris Mayne on a lucrative four-year deal.
Injury-prone free agent Daniel Wells managed only 10 games in his first season with the Magpies.
Collingwood said in a Wednesday statement that that they had offered Hine the "newly shaped" role of national recruiting manager.
Hine was previously their list management general manager.
They will also have a pro scout department for the first time.
"Ned and Derek already share a great working relationship and we feel with the restructure and additional roles we can achieve a great balance and dynamic in the recruiting and list management department," Collingwood football director Geoff Walsh said.
It is unclear when Guy will start at the Magpies, given his heavy involvement during the AFL trade period.
There is speculation that Collingwood are a potential suitor for Guy's client Jake Lever, who has enraged Adelaide by requesting a trade to Melbourne.
Since Buckley's reappointment on a two-year deal in late August, there have been several changes in the Collingwood football department.
The Magpies surprisingly sacked high performance manager Bill Davoren, while assistant coach Scott Burns had left for Hawthorn prior to Buckley re-signing.
Matthew Boyd and Justin Longmuire have joined as assistant coaches and premiership captain Nick Maxwell returns to Collingwood in a leadership and culture role.
