Fremantle have received draft pick No.23 as compensation for losing Chris Mayne to Collingwood as an AFL free agent.

The Magpies have confirmed Mayne is their second free-agency recruit this week.

The ex-Dockers' forward will join the Magpies on a four-year deal.

Mayne, 27, was an unrestricted free agent and the AFL has given Fremantle the round-two draft pick for losing him.

He debuted for Fremantle in 2008 and kicked 196 goals in 172 games.

On Tuesday, the Magpies confirmed they had signed former North Melbourne midfielder Daniel Wells on a three-year deal.

North received draft pick No.32, also in the second round, as compensation for losing Wells under free agency.
