A Malaysian motorcycle racer died on Wednesday from injuries suffered in a weekend crash at the country's Sepang circuit that also killed a race marshal just ahead of next month's Malaysian Grand Prix.
The circuit said in a statement that rider Mohamad Izzat Mohamad Abdul had succumbed to multiple head injuries sustained in the crash Saturday during a practice round for the Malaysian Super Series bike competition.
The crash also caused the death of race marshal Satish Suppiah, who died that day.
Sepang was previously the scene of a fatal crash in 2011, when MotoGP rider Marco Simoncelli was killed during the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
That incident prompted the circuit to undertake a safety review of a track known to be notoriously tricky.
This year's Grand Prix is on October 13.
