Male dies after Melbourne house fire

A man has died in hospital after he was rescued from a suspicious fire at the rear of a north Melbourne shop.

A man has died in hospital after receiving severe burns to his face and body in a suspicious fire in north Melbourne.

Firefighters were called to a Glenroy house behind a shop just after 9.30pm on Wednesday and found a 35-year-old unconscious man with burns outside the property.

A second male who was rescued from inside, had severe face and torso burns, Metropolitan Fire Brigade said.

The 50-year-old died in hospital on Thursday afternoon, police said in a statement.

Police are still investigating.
