Carlton coach Mick Malthouse has the unqualified support of incoming chief executive Steven Trigg.
Trigg on Thursday finished his job as Adelaide's CEO and will start as the Blues' chief on Monday.
Malthouse is contracted to the Blues until the end of next season and Trigg says he's anticipating working with the triple-premiership coach.
"It is better said when I have started and when I have had a discussion with him rather than making any judgements now," Trigg told reporters in Adelaide on Thursday.
"But I just maintain the line that if he has still got the energy, and it looks like he has, you have got 700-games plus (experience) under your belt.
"And you have coached three premierships - really good coaches don't grow on trees.
"And with that sort of CV, I'm really looking forward to working with him."
Trigg said the Carlton chief executive's job presented challenges on and off the field.
"I don't think there are too many cushy jobs in that regard anywhere across the competition," he said.
"I prefer to see it as an opportunity to make a difference.
"Whether that is the bottom-line, whether that is football department or whatever it is, I think there is some scope to do something.
"The club has got enormous latent support. It has got a great presence.
"There's just some areas that we can improve on and I think Carton people everywhere would suggest that is the case."
