Man arrested at gunpoint on Sydney train

A Sydney man is behind bars after being arrested at gunpoint on a train after allegedly showing a commuter a cap gun under his shirt.

A man arrested at gunpoint on a Sydney train will face court accused of intimidating a rail passenger with a cap gun.

The 42-year-old was followed through up to six carriages before he was arrested by officers at Town Hall station shortly after midday on Wednesday, police say.

Officers were called after the man allegedly lifted his shirt and showed the gun at his waist.

The silver handgun was later found to be a cap gun.

The man was refused bail on charges of intimidation, wilful interference of a passenger's safety and possession of an unauthorised pistol.

He will face Central Local Court on Thursday.
