A 27-year-old man will face court this weekend over the murder of a man whose body was found with multiple wounds in a Canberra flat.

The body of Nicholas Sofer-Schreiber, 27, was discovered by friends at a home in Lyneham on December 28.

Detective Superintendent of Criminal Investigations, Paul Shakeshaft, said a Watson man has been arrested for the murder and would face ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday.

"For the friends and family of Mr Sofer-Schreiber, we are sorry for your loss, which we know you deal with every day. However we hope this arrest gives you some peace of mind," he said in a statement on Friday.
