Police have twice arrested the same man over the disappearance of Victorian schoolgirl Siriyakorn "Bung" Siriboon.
The 13-year-old went missing after leaving her Boronia home for school in June 2011.
A 24-year-old male was arrested in August in relation to her disappearance, a statement released on Tuesday by Victoria Police says.
The arrest sparked a police and emergency services search of Old Joe's Creek retarding basin for a week. However, it did not uncover any new clues into her disappearance.
"He was interviewed and released without charge, pending further inquiries," the police statement said.
"He was further interviewed in October and again released without charge. He remains a person of interest to the investigation."
The ABC reports that the man has claimed he hit and killed the high school student while driving his car on the morning she disappeared, then panicked and disposed of her body at a local reserve.
A police spokeswoman said she could not confirm that report.
The Homicide Squad continues to investigate the disappearance of Bung and have a number of persons of interest and active lines of inquiry, police said in the statement.
