Man charged after fatal Sydney hit-and-run

A man has been charged after a man died following a hit-and-run in western Sydney, police say.

A man has been charged after a fatal hit-and-run in Sydney's west.

Police said a 30-year-old man was found lying on the footpath in Dean Park at 12.30am (AEDT) on Friday after being hit by a vehicle that failed to stop at the scene.

The man was taken to Westmead Hospital where he died.

About 7pm on Friday a 45-year-old man attended Penrith Police Station, where he was arrested and charged with failing to stop/assist after vehicle impact causing death.

Investigators also attended his house in Freemans Reach where they seized a Toyota Hiace van for scientific examination.

The suspect was granted strict conditional bail to appear in Blacktown Local Court on April 14.
