A 29-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences following a six-hour siege in Sydney.

NSW Police were called to a unit block in Maroubra on Tuesday morning where a man was reported to be armed with a gun.

Some six hours later two men were arrested after leaving the unit. A replica firearm was allegedly found inside.

A 31-year-old man was released without charge, but the 29-year-old faces nine offences, including being armed with intent to commit an offence, and detaining a person to obtain advantage.

He's due to face Waverley Local Court on Wednesday.
