Man charged after Vic break-in death

A man has been charged after the death of an alleged burglar who fell through a roof while trying to steal copper piping, police say.

A man has been charged after an alleged Melbourne burglary during which a man died falling through a roof.

A 48-year-old Reservoir man has been charged with offences including three burglaries involving copper piping.

It follows the death of a man at an abandoned nursing home in Reservoir about 6am on Friday.

The two men were allegedly trying to steal copper from an abandoned nursing home when one of the men fell through the roof and died, police say.

The man has not been formally identified.

A search uncovered a large number of allegedly stolen items at a Lalor property as part of an investigation into the incident.
