Man charged in Sydney shooting

Police have charged a 24-year-old man with a shooting in Sydney's west and are appealing for information about an unrelated shooting on the same night.

A 24-year-old man has been charged over a shooting in Sydney's west.

Officers were called to Whalan about 8.50pm on Tuesday after residents reported hearing two or three gunshots in what police believe is a domestic-related incident.

No one was injured and a bullet casing was found on the road.

A 24-year-old was tracked down by officers at a home in Bankstown several hours later and arrested after short chase on foot.

The man has been charged with firearm in public place, possess loaded firearm in public place and intimidation.

He was refused bail and will appear at Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, detectives are appealing for information after a shot was fired in an unrelated incident at Granville.

A 19-year-old man was walking on Blaxcell Street when a dark-coloured sedan pulled up alongside him at about 8.10pm.

It's alleged a single shot was fired from the car, which hit the front window of a nearby home.

There were no injuries.

It's unknown how many people were inside the car.
