A man has been charged with arson at his Adelaide home.
The man called emergency services from the Kilburn property early on Tuesday morning threatening to self-harm and burn down his house, police allege.
He and a woman escaped the blaze, which destroyed the lower floor of the townhouse.
The 42-year-old was hospitalised with minor burns before being detained under the Mental Health Act and charged with arson and endangering life.
He is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
