Man charged over NSW Hunter stabbing

A 67-year-old man in the Hunter region of NSW has been charged over the stabbing of a 66-year-old man found with multiple stab wounds.

A man has been charged over the stabbing of another man at Stockton in the NSW Hunter region.

Police were called to a unit on Maitland Street following reports a man had been stabbed on Wednesday night.

A 66-year-old man was found outside the unit with multiple stab wounds.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 67-year-old man has been charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and is expected to appear in Newcastle Local Court on Thursday.
