Man charged over Qld petrol station drama

A man who allegedly made threats after going to a Brisbane petrol station with a cigarette lighter is due to face court.

A worker has averted a potential disaster after a man with a cigarette lighter made threats at a Brisbane petrol station.

The man had the lighter in his hand when he tried to pour petrol from a pump at Clayfield on Tuesday afternoon.

A quick-thinking worker, who saw the events unfold, managed to disable the pump.

The same man threatened a woman at a nearby business after fleeing the service station on foot, police say.

A 34-year-old man has since been charged with public nuisance and threatening violence.

He's due to face the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning.
