Man charged over Vic home invasion

A man has been charged with unlawful imprisonment and other offences after a Victorian woman was followed into her home and bound.

A man has appeared in a Melbourne court accused of invading a woman's home and tying her up with electrical cords before stealing her BMW car.

The woman was allegedly followed into her South Yarra home on Tuesday night with a man demanding she open her safe.

When she said the property did not have a safe, she was tied her up with electric blanket and phone charger cords. The man made off with her black BMW Coupe and $10 from her wallet, police said last week.

A 49-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on Friday after a police pursuit.

He appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday charged with aggravated burglary, unlawful imprisonment, theft, theft of a motor car, evading police and other traffic-related offences.

He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
