Man charged with assaulting 2yo boy

A Cairns man has been arrested and charged with assaulting a two-year-old boy, leaving the child with critical head injuries.

A man has been charged after a two-year-old boy suffered critical head injuries in Queensland's north.

The 30-year-old Cairns man was arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm on Wednesday, and will front Cairns Magistrates' Court later in the day.

The child has been admitted to the Cairns Base Hospital.
