Man dies after brick wall smash in Perth

Police are investigating whether a 19-year-old driver was racing another car before he fatally smashed through a brick wall in Perth.

A 19-year-old man has died after smashing his car through a brick wall into the backyard of a house in Perth's southeastern suburbs.

Police officers were conducting a traffic stop in Thornlie just before midnight when they believe they heard two speeding vehicles before seeing one of the cars lose control and crash into the rear of a property.

The car burst into flames.

The teen driver suffered significant injuries and died at the scene.

Police are still examining the scene and are are calling for anyone who may be able to offer information to help them determine the cause of the crash to get in contact.
