Man dies after 'falling asleep on road'

A man who was hit and killed by a car on the NSW north coast may have fallen asleep on the road after leaving a party earlier in the night.

A man who died after being hit by a car on NSW's mid-north coast may have been asleep on the road, police say.

The 25-year-old was run over on South West Rocks Road at Austral Eden, north of Kempsey, about 2.40am on Sunday.

He had left a party earlier in the night and his friends had gone to look for him.

The male car driver was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

On Saturday afternoon, a man died after being struck by two cars as he crossed the M1 at Mount Kuring-Gai in Sydney's north.

It's believed he was hit by a northbound car but kept walking into the southbound lanes, where he was struck by a another car.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene but died later at Hornsby Hospital.
