Man dies four days after church car crash

A man has died after refusing to go to hospital when he was involved in a car crash in Sydney last week.

An elderly man who refused to be taken to hospital following a car crash in Sydney has died four days after the accident.

The 83-year-old was the front seat passenger in a Toyota Camry when it crashed into a brick wall at a church in Caringbah Thursday.

The man and his 76-year-old wife were assessed by paramedics at the scene but police say the man declined to go to hospital.

His condition deteriorated throughout the day and an ambulance was eventually called.

He died in St George Hospital on Monday.

The 92-year-old man who was behind the wheel of the car was treated for a sprained wrist and cut to his head.

He also provided blood and urine samples and was later released.
