A man has died in a fire at a retirement village north of Brisbane.

The blaze broke out at a unit in the Pacific Palms Home Village around 2.30am (AEST) on Saturday.

Firefighters found a 62-year-old man inside and brought him outside but he couldn't be revived.

Four fire crews battled the blaze, which is believed to have started in the kitchen.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

A house was also gutted by fire at nearby Beachmere just before 6am (AEST) on Saturday.

A crime scene has been established at the home, which police said was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
