Man dies in Vic tractor, truck collision

A tractor driver has died in a collision with a truck near the Victorian/South Australian border.

A man has died after his tractor collided head-on with a B-Double truck carrying logs on the Princes Highway in Victoria's west.

Both vehicles burst into flames and the truck pushed the tractor back onto the Glenelg River Bridge at Dartmoor near the South Australian border.

The tractor driver is yet to be identified, police said.

The truck driver, a 55-year-old man, was taken to Mt Gambier with serious injuries.

The highway was closed to traffic after the accident at 5.30am on Tuesday and was not expected to be opened for several hours.

The death takes Victoria's road toll to 112 compared to 106 at the same time last year.
