A 62-year-old man has died while working on an ultralight plane in Halls Head in Western Australia.

A 62-year-old man has died while working on an ultralight plane south of Perth.

Police originally said the plane crashed about 10.30am on Sunday in Halls Head, but later said the plane wasn't airborne.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
